This 2x4 jungle is the vertical members of the framework that will hold the 2 1/2 turn helix at the end of the phase 4 portion of the layout

Here, Bob Jones is assembling the spline roadbed on the lower level of the layout. The spline roadbed is comprised of 6 pieces 1/2" x 1 1/4" plywood

This is another view of the location where the helix will be built. In the background Phil is standing on the platform that is needed to operate the upper level of the layout

The framework at the bottom of the photo is for the platform that is required t operate the middle level of the layout.
